Written by Michigan Construction | Aug 5, 2019

The Southeast Michigan Construction Academy (SEMCA) is an educational organization on a mission to train tomorrow's construction workforce to be skilled, motivated, and safety conscious. SEMCA is currently accepting applications for its various apprenticeship programs - which are designed to provide individuals with the experience and skills needed to work for construction companies in Michigan. If you've been searching for construction jobs in Michigan, but are not meeting all of the qualifications for your dream gig — SEMCA is a great place to start.

SEMCA is an educational affiliate of the Associated Builders and Contractors Southeastern Michigan Chapter and is also a current Michigan Construction Partner.

The SEMCA apprenticeship program includes four years of trade-specific training in electrical, carpentry, sheet metal, HVAC and/or roofing. Instructors assist students in hands-on workshops and skilled assessments as well as classroom learning.

The Southeast Michigan Construction Academy is also a registered apprenticeship, meaning the program produces highly skilled workers to meet the demands of today's employers. Registered apprenticeships ensure quality training by combining on-the-job training with theoretical and practical classroom instruction. The program also helps students with job placement.

SEMCA offers four training locations: Madison Heights, Lapeer, Monroe and Adrian. The electrical, sheet metal, HVAC and roofing programs are four-year programs, while the carpentry program is a one-year program. Students attend class for three hours, twice a week from 6:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m.

Prospective students must be at least 18 years old with a high school diploma or GED and provide proof of a valid driver's license and social security card in order to apply. Click below to apply.
