Michigan Construction Announces One Day Summit for Industry Leaders to Tackle the Workforce Problem

Written by Heather Smith | Nov 1, 2017

The Michigan Construction Summit is the can't-miss industry conference for rebuilding Michigan's Construction Workforce. This one-day conference is focused on finding ways to fill the talent pool with skilled and qualified candidates who demonstrate the right character for successful careers in Michigan’s construction industry. Sessions are geared towards providing real-world solutions for construction employers to take full advantage of the Michigan construction talent development pipeline.

The Michigan Construction Summit is open to any construction employer, training provider, educator, human services provider or other stakeholder in developing the construction talent pipeline. If you are working towards or looking for solutions to the industry’s workforce problem, this conference is for you. If you are wondering how you will hire enough workers next week or next spring, you can’t afford to miss the Summit.

The Michigan Construction Foundation is hosting the Michigan Construction Summit on January 29th, 2018 at the Kellogg Hotel & Conference Center in East Lansing, MI. Registration begins at 8:00 AM. Event ends at 3:00 PM and will feature light breakfast fare, plated lunch, and afternoon snacks. Space is limited.  Register now.

Attendees will choose between breakout sessions focusing on topics like Industry-Sponsored Training, Navigating Seasonal Layoffs, Local Education Providers, and The Importance of Social Media, building a toolkit for developing your company’s own workforce. Industry leaders will share tactics and strategies for training, attracting and retaining the right workers. Together, we’ll share practical solutions your organization can implement in 2018, as well as big-picture ideas for the next decades of the construction industry.

In addition to the valuable breakout sessions and guest speakers, attendees will participate in localized roundtable discussions. This is an opportunity to collaborate and share successes, challenges, and ideas with peers in your region of Michigan. We will roll up our sleeves and get to the heart of the workforce problem at this meeting of the minds, connecting the dots between individual organizations to form the network with the strength and reach to build Michigan’s construction workforce.
